Copaiba Oil

Brazil, the largest country in South America, covers a total area of 3,287,357 square miles. Within that area is 60 percent of the Amazon rainforest. This represents over half of the planet’s remaining rainforests; in consequence, the Amazon is the largest and most biodiverse area of tropical rainforest in the world, with an estimated 390 billion individual trees. Therein lie the trees from which we source Copaiba oleoresin, which is distilled to produce Copaiba essential oil. Producing Copaiba oil is no easy feat—the Amazon rainforest is very dense and nearly impossible to travel through with conventional vehicles. Most travel is done by boat for both personal and commercial purposes. Using the smaller tributaries and larger rivers as their roads and highways, harvesters take advantage of higher waters to collect the oleoresin. doTERRA utilizes a large network of harvesters that transport their copaiba oleoresin by boat from their different villages to Manaus. The oleoresin is inspected and paid for immediately, ensuring that the harvesters receive what they deserve for all their hard work. A distillation partner in Manaus then steam distills the precious oleoresin. The distillery then prepares it for final shipment to the US. There it will be tested and bottled, ready for use. For centuries, Copaiba has been used in traditional health practices. Today we use it to help support the health of the cardiovascular, immune, digestive, nervous, and respiratory systems.* It also contains powerful antioxidants that promote immune health.* Copaiba essential oil can also be used in many personal care items such as soaps, creams, lotions, and perfumes.
